New research has revealed the most searched watch brands globally, with Apple beating Samsung to take the top spot.

  • Apple tops the list as the most Googled watch brand globally, receiving more than 8.8 million searches on average per month.
  • Samsung follows in second with an average of 959,400 Google searches per month.
  • Luxury brand Rolex takes third place with a total of 707,000 searches per month.

Creative resource Design Bundles analysed Google search data for watch brands to reveal which ones are searched the most globally per month. A list of watch brand names was combined with the terms “watches”, “watch”, “watches for men”, and “watches for women”, then added together to reveal the overall number of searches each brand receives.

Apple takes the top spot on the list with an average of 8,875,500 Google searches per month. The search term “apple watch” accounts for 8,810,000 of the total search volume. The brand released its series 7 smartwatch in October 2021 and has consistently shown its ability to create fresh and innovative designs.  “Apart from simply looking great, Apple watches are probably the most advanced when it comes to health-tracking features. For example, they allow you to take blood-oxygen measurements or detect when you fall – so you can call for help with a simple tap on the screen.”

Samsung follows in second with 959,400 searches per month. The company released its first smartwatch the ‘Galaxy Gear’ in 2013, beating their competitor Apple by a couple of years.

In third is the luxury watch brand Rolex with 707,000 Google searches per month. The company was founded over 100 years ago and released its first watch in 1926. The ‘Oyster’ model was patented and sold as the world’s first waterproof watch. Over the years many more models have been released, all embodying the luxury and elegance of the brand.

Following in fourth is Fossil which receives a monthly combined total of 668,000 searches. Men’s watches were searched 71,000 times per month, in comparison to the 31,000 searches the term “fossil watches for women” receives. The brand has released watches since 1984 and creates affordable products in a variety of styles.

Garmin is close behind in fifth, with the brand receiving a total of 614,000 searches per month for its watches. The smartwatches feature GPS technology and are designed for sports and activities.

A spokesperson for Design Bundles commented, “It is exciting to see such variety within the top watch brands. There is something for everyone whether they are looking for a modern smartwatch with extensive technical features or a classic design that has stood the test of time. It is also interesting to see that whilst smartwatches have taken the top spots, more traditional luxury brands such as Rolex and Omega are still incredibly desirable.”

Casio places sixth with 488,000 searches on average per month. The brand still produces some of its most iconic vintage watch designs from 1974, giving them a refresh for new seasonal releases.

Michael Kors takes seventh place with 370,600 searches per month. Founded in 1981, the luxury fashion brand sells fragrances and accessories including men’s and women’s watches. The latter is searched 24,000 times per month, whereas men’s watches are searched 8,600 times.

G Shock follows in eighth place, receiving an average of 349,200 Google searches per month. Designed by Casio engineer Kikuo Ibe, the watches are sturdy and able to withstand extreme pressure. Men’s watches are searched 53,000 times per month, whereas women’s watches from the brand are searched 8,500 times.

Swiss watchmakers Rado take ninth place. The brand receives 322,400 searches per month for its watches. Founded in 1917, Rado has been the official timekeeper for many international tennis tournaments for nearly 20 years.

In tenth place is another Swiss watch brand, Omega. Their watches receive a total of  318,200 Google searches per month. The brand’s ‘Speedmaster’ design has been worn on each one of NASA’s piloted space missions, and its ‘Seamaster’ was the chosen timepiece of James Bond.

The analysis was carried out by Design Bundles which offers high-quality premium design resources and a marketplace that allows graphic designers to register and sell their products.
