Love or hate them Rom Coms pretty much dominate the film industry with their cheesy one liners and unrealistic endings. 

Experts at WeThrift , have put together the ultimate Rom Com movie list that will be sure to have you in your feels this valentine’s Day. Using IMDB rating and global search volume they found the most loved romantic comedies. 

Each film was ranked out of 10, here is what they scored..

  1. Love Actually – Score 17.6 

Although many have debated whether the classic film Love Actually is a Romantic Comedy or Christmas movie, on this list of rom-coms it came out on top, with a score of 17.6 out of 20. 

The 2003 movie follows the love lives of eight different couples whose stories are all interconnected. The film covers all areas of the perfect romantic comedy, making it a staple Valentine’s Day film and a favourite around the world.

2. Clueless – Score 16.6 

If a girly, teen focused romcom is your taste, then you’re in for a treat, Clueless ranks at a close second on this list, with a score of 16.6. This film is perfect for a Galentine’s day with your bestie, grab the Dionne to your Cher and enjoy this 90’s classic. 

The 1995 film focuses on the life of popular rich teen Cher Horowitz and her evident cluelessness of navigating the trials of being a teenager. The teen chooses to help a new student gain popularity, in the process of this she falls in love with someone she never expected to.

3. Coming to America – Score 16.6 

Following closely behind, Eddie Murphy’s Coming to America ranked at number 3 with a score of 16.6. The 1988 rom com stars Eddie Murphy as a wealthy Prince from a fictional African nation of Zamuda, who travels to the United States on the search for his true love. The Prince is in rebellion to his parents who already selected a bride for him to wed.

4. Groundhog Day America – Score 16.5

Coming in fourth place, this witty 90s Comedy centers on a selfish weatherman who is forced to live the same day over and over until he learns what it means to care for others.

5. Pretty Woman – Score 16.3 

Though from completely different worlds, a rich entrepreneur and a sex worker played by Academy Award Winner Julia Roberts, the two fall in love despite their different backgrounds.

6. 10 Things I Hate About You – Score 16.3

The widely adored 10 Things I Hate About You joined Pretty Woman with an exact score of 16.3, it seems like people could not pick between Heath Ledger’s version of ‘can’t take my eyes off you’  and Julia Robert’s stellar performance as the charming Vivian Ward.

7. Notting Hill – Score 15.3

Hugh Grant plays a British bookseller, who gets starstruck by a famous American actress played by Julia Roberts, in the classic 1999 film set in Notting Hill.

8. While You Were Sleeping – Score 14.6 

A lonely subway worker named Lucy saves the life of a stranger from the path of an oncoming train, shortly after they reach the hospital, doctors report that he is in a coma. Soon after the dramatic ordeal Lucy is mistaken to be the fiancee of the stranger known as Peter, which leads to Peter’s family treating her as their own.

9. She’s All That – Score 14.6 

When a popular high schooler gets cheated on by his girlfriend, he decides to make a bet with his friends to transform the high school geek into their school’s prom queen.

 10.  Breakfast at Tiffany’s – Score 14.5 

Surprisingly the iconic Breakfast at Tiffany’s ranked last on the list, with a score of 14.5. This is perhaps due to the film’s popularity being centered around the widely recognisable fashion moments and costume jewellery.
