National Drink Wine Day: The Best Celebrity-Owned Wine Revealed In New Study

New research reveals the best celebrity-owned wine, finding Idris Elba’s Porte Noire Cotes de Provence Rose to be the best wine on the market, followed by creations by Sarah Jessica Parker and then Post Malone.

Conducted by money.co.uk, the research analysed the average cost of wines owned by famous faces and compared that with their star ratings on critic website Vivino.com to discover which ones are the best bang for your buck. Each price point and star rating was given their own indexable score out of 100 in order to rank them from best to worst. Idris Elba tops the table, scoring 85 out of 100 thanks to the average cost of $34 (£28) a bottle and with a 4.4 out of 5 stars rating, this tipple has earned its place at the top. Elba’s rosé is certified organic, vegan-friendly and has secured the “Best in Show” award at the Decanter World Wine Awards 2020.

The second-best on the list goes to Sarah Jessica Parker’s Invivo X Sauvignon Blanc; scoring 83.5 out of a possible 100 thanks to a 4.1 rating and an average cost of $22 (£16) a bottle. It’s hailed from New Zealand, and the fresh and citrusy Sauvignon Blanc comes stamped by the Sex and The City star herself with the “X, SJP” on the bottle.

Third on the list is Post Malone’s Maison No. 9 Rosé which he created for people to enjoy when they are “feeling a little fancy, followed by Jon Bon Jovi’s Hampton Water Rosé and Mary J Blige’s Sun Goddess Pinot Grigio Ramato Friuli in joint fourth-place. Rounding off the top five best wines list Irish TV host, Graham Norton, with his Graham Norton’s Own Sauvignon Blanc which scores 82 out of 100 thanks to a reasonable cost of $11 (£8) and a Vivino.com score of 3.9.

Nine of the top 20 celebrity wines are rosé; Idris Elba’s is first, Post Malone’s third, and Jon Bon Jovi’s in fourth. Outside of the top five is Brad Pitt’s Miraval Côtes De Provence Rosé (seventh) costing $22 (£16) and scoring 4 out of 5 on Vivino.com, whilst Kylie Minogue’s ‘Signature’ Rose rounds off the top 10. John Legend’s LVE Rosé is 12th on the list, Vanderpump Rosé by restaurateur Lisa Vanderpump is 14th, and two Graham Norton’s are joint 15th with Graham Norton’s Own Rose and Graham Norton’s Own Prosecco Rose both scoring 73.5/100.
