The ninth series of Married at First Sight Australia returned to our screens last night. But with research from SlotsUp revealing that just 7% of the shows’ couples stayed married after their series, will fans be broken-hearted watching their favourite contestants left at the altar once again?

With last night’s episode living up to promises that this will be the most explosive series yet – Selin and Anthony already captured the hearts of viewers, with Anthony not being able to take his eyes off his bride-to-be as she walked down the aisle.

Tamara and Brent also wed – but with awkwardness from the offset during their first kiss and Brent branding Tamara as a “psychopath”, could this couple be on the rocks already and heading for divorce?

It begs the question, can you actually find everlasting love on reality TV? A recent study from researchers at SlotsUp has revealed which dating shows from around the world give you the best chance of actually finding a real connection.
