Campbell Robb, Nacro chief executive said: “Because of barriers to education, by the age of 19, more than one in four young people on free school meals won’t reach the grades the government now requires for a student loan. For those with special education needs, who have been in care or have other disadvantages, the chances of achieving the required good GCSEs are worse. Ironically, weeks after releasing the Levelling Up white paper, this Government policy will only entrench disadvantage for the same people they say they want to help.”

Nacro runs education centres across England helping the most disadvantaged young people to succeed in gaining the qualifications they need to progress into further education and training. These plans will directly affect those we help every day.
