The clean-up of Fort Road beach near Pembroke Dock was completed yesterday (Tuesday) with all contaminated seaweed removed and any globules of oil mopped up.

The clean-up team worked hard to remove all materials before the tide came in, finishing by 5pm.

They also visited Fort Road this morning and no further signs of pollution were reported on the beach

The team is now working at Llanreath Beach and making good progress. The clean-up should be finished by early afternoon. Seaweed is being removed and the clean up undertaken manually using absorbent pads.

Although there was no evidence of oil in the stream, a boom has been installed at the bottom of the stream at Llanreath as a precautionary measure.

Pembrokeshire County Council will monitor the situation over the next week. A spokesman said it was grateful to the support provided by multi agency partners to ensure a fast resolution to the pollution incident, in order to minimise impact to the environment and community.
