Mature learners celebrate

A celebration evening was held at Coleg Sir Gâr to acknowledge the achievements of part-time mature learners studying childcare courses.

“Many students on the course have been out of formal education for some time,” said NVQ coordinator Susan Richardson. “With such a wide range of ages on the course, from 20 years-old up to 50, we felt it was time to recognise the achieveChildCare_014ments of those who have gained a qualification whilst bringing up families, or faced the barriers of returning to education to help them find work.”

The NVQ in children’s care, development and learning, focuses on employability and retraining. Many people complete the course and gain employment and occupational areas in statutory, private and voluntary settings.
