Life begins at 50

Pembrokeshire residents wishing to know what services are available to them after they reach the age of 50 can have their questions answered at an event in Letterston Memorial Hall on Friday, 2ndOctober.

The annual Full of Life event is designed to showcase a range of services and activities to help keep people happy and healthy as they get older proving age is just a number.

People wishing to join the digital revolution can get tips and tricks on how to use a computer from a member of Pembrokeshire County Council’s web team, while a member of staff from Trading Standards will be on hand to offer advice on how to avoid scams.

With winter approaching the Fire Service will be conducting their electric blanket test with free replacements given for those that fail.

Attendees interested in learning more about the effects of Alzheimer’s will be given the answer to the question ‘what is dementia?’ by members of the Alzheimer’s society.

Other exhibitors include advice on volunteering, advice on how to avoid falls in the home and beauty tasters.

“It’s important that people feel safe, active and healthy as they grow older and this free event at will showcase that” said the Council’s Cabinet Member for Adult Services, Health and Well-Being and Equalities Councillor Simon Hancock.

“We have run these events for a number of years and they remain as popular as ever with a host of service providers on hand to offer advice, help and support and I’ve no doubt this event will be just as good.”
