Plaid Cymru response to unpaid carer £500 payment
“This bonus is to be welcomed, but does not address the thousands of people across Wales who are not on the care register, but who provide much needed support to a loved one.
“The care provided by the 370,000 unpaid carers is estimated to be worth billions to the Welsh economy, and government must lay out the steps it’s taking to recognise these people – not with one-off payments, however welcome they’ll be to those who receive them, but on an ongoing basis.
“Thousands of our nations’ carers are not eligible for the scheme, but will be equally impacted by the cost of living crisis – they deserve recognition.”
