t’s now been confirmed that the popular giant attraction will be returning to Waterfront Winterland this year.
Waterfront Winterland, organised by Swansea Council, will be at Museum Park from Friday November 13 to Sunday January 3.
Other fun features will include the Admiral ice rink, a children’s rink, a family funfair and Santa’s Grotto.
A new ride for 2015 will also be confirmed over coming weeks.
Cllr Robert Francis-Davies, Swansea Council’s Cabinet Member for Enterprise, Development and Regeneration, said: “The recent bout of warm, sunny weather makes it hard to believe that Christmas is fast-approaching, so it may come as a surprise to many people that it’s only about 11 weeks away.
“The council and its partners have been preparing for Christmas for some time to ensure it’s yet another festive season to remember in Swansea for our residents and visitors the city. Waterfront Winterland, now celebrating its tenth year, has been a huge success because it’s a family friendly attraction that caters for people of all ages. The big wheel, offering stunning views of Swansea during day and night, has been very popular in the past, so many people will no doubt be delighted to hear that it’s returning this year.
“Waterfront Winterland will combine with many other events, concerts, pantos and activities to generate a fantastic seasonal atmosphere in the build-up to Christmas.”
Other events will include the return of Santa on Sunday November 15, who’ll be switching on the Christmas lights as part of the Christmas Parade in the city centre. The parade will begin at the Dylan Thomas Centre on Somerset Place before continuing onto Wind Street, College Street, Kingsway and St Helen’s Road before ending at the Guildhall.
A Christmas market will also be returning to Oxford Street from Wednesday November 25 to Tuesday December 22. Other Christmas and New Year fun will include the Jack and the Beanstalk panto at the Grand Theatre from December 11 to January 10. Dancing on Ice judge and West End theatre star Louie Spence is among the big names who will be taking to the stage this year.
