SEARCHES FOR ‘’ SONY METAVERSE’  685% WORLDWIDE AFTER EPIC GAMES ANNOUNCES SONY METAVERSE PARTNERSHIP

Analysis of Google search data reveals that online searches for ‘sony metaverse’ exploded 685% WORLDWIDE on the 12th April, one day after Epic Games announced its partnership with Sony and KIRKBI.

A new finding by SolitaireBliss reveals that online searches for ‘sony metaverse’ exploded to over eight times the average volume worldwide on 12th April, the day after Fortnite creator Epic Games announced a $2 billion round of funding, including investments from Sony and KIRKBI, the holding company behind The LEGO Group.

Google searches for ‘epic games metaverse’ also shot up by 384% worldwide on 12th April, the day after the announcement. ‘Metaverse’ searches also went up 64% worldwide on 12th April.

The surge in search interest comes as Epic Games announces its intentions to partner with Sony and The LEGO Group to create a child-friendly digital world in the metaverse.

Searches for ‘lego metaverse’ were up by 250% worldwide on April 7th, the day that Epic Games announced its partnership with The LEGO Group, and went up again by 229% worldwide on 12th April.

KIRKBI and Sony, a previous investor in Epic Games, provided $1billion each in order to “advance the company’s vision to build the metaverse and support its continued growth” as stated in a press release by Epic Games.

A spokesperson for SolitaireBliss commented on the findings:  “These findings highlight the enormous anticipation that there is for the metaverse worldwide. Epic Games have already created an immersive digital world with Fortnite, and this partnership means that they can leverage Sony’s technology in order to create a next-level experience that is safe for young children. As tech giants compete for market share of the metaverse, the winners will be those that put the trust and safety of its users first and foremost, where we have seen the likes of Facebook struggle to win over people’s trust.”
