VISIT FROM EASTER BUNNY BUSIEST EVENT YET AT CYNHEIDRE

The Llanelli and Mynydd Mawr Railway  Easter Bunny event at Cynheidre on Saturday 16th April was the busiest day yet for the railway with over 250 people enjoying the fun in super spring sunshine.  Visitors enjoyed unlimited train rides on our Pacer train and were greeted by the Easter Bunny who gave an Easter Egg to all children.  A whole host of seasonal activities was on offer including:

  • An Easter Scavengers hunt along a self directed trail
  • Nature activities for the children
  • A prize for the best Easter Bonnet
  • A chance to roast marshmallows over an open fire
  • Face Painting
  • A Bouncy Castle

The railway was also pleased to welcome a return visit by  the Mayor of Llanelli  Michael Cranham and family members.  The Mayor graciously unveiled a memorial tree to the railways long standing Chairman Des Thomas who had recently passed away following a period of illness.

Local fundraiser The Scout Trooper also made an appearance raising funds for the Teenage Cancer Trust.

The next public open day will be on Saturday 14th May when the railway hopes to offer diesel hauled brake van rides and a first chance to ride behind recently delivered Pacer No. 143 612, subject to it being made ready for service in time.

The railway is a charity run totally by volunteers.  It is hoping to grow into a major tourist attraction for the Llanelli district and in order to reach our goals we need more volunteer help in all departments including operational, maintenance and restoration, and administration. If you could spare a few hours for what is a most enjoyable pastime and worthwhile cause do not hesitate to get in touch.  For more information or to volunteer please visit our website at https://www.llanellirailway.co.uk or Facebook page at www.facebook.com/llanellirailway
