Earth Day 2022 – How the environment turns our own bodies against usĀ

Friday, April 22 is Earth Day! Conversations on this day are usually about what we can do to minimize harm done to the planet. However, this Earth Day, let’s change the subject and talk about how the planet is actually harming us and how it can actually be fatal. Thankfully, epigenetics is triggering transformation in how we view environmental health.

Environmental specialist Douglas Mulhall has uncovered that there is much more than what meets the eye when it comes to the causes of heart disease and other sicknesses. Our environment plays a significant role which is often overlooked when looking at health factors.

“A field that’s hot for medicine but invisible to many environmental experts is epigenetics; how your environment trains your genes to make you healthy or sick. Studies show how toxic metals in our environment trigger your genes to turn against you, while some foods and widely used food preservatives help combat that contamination. One result; heart disease damage is reversed when natural epigenetic substances are applied to the patient,” says Mulhall.

The environmental areas like our homes, work spaces and other areas play a bigger role than we think on our bodies. And these battles between us and the Earth take a constant toll on us as our bodies work to keep us healthy. Just how much of a toll might actually  surprise you.
