People are invited to join the Carmarthenshire Meadows Group which was launched earlier this year.

Its aim is to inspire the creation of a county-wide community that supports each other to improve the diversity of wildlife on meadows.

The group is planning to hold a meeting this month with speakers giving presentations on the Monmouthshire Meadows Group; using grazing animals to manage meadows; waxcap fungi: and the marsh fritillary butterfly in Carmarthenshire.

There will also be an opportunity to chat to other meadow owners, share experiences and discuss how the group wishes to continue.

Carmarthenshire County Council’s executive board member for biodiversity Cllr Meryl Gravell said: “If you  want to manage your meadows for wildlife why not join the group and be inspired to work with others across the county to help restore the floral and faunal splendour of your own patch of Welsh countryside.”

  • Anyone interested in finding out more about the Meadows Group and attending the meeting, which is taking place on Saturday, October 24, from 10.30am to 1pm at Pontargothi Hall, please contact Carmarthenshire’s Biodiversity Officer Isabel Macho at IMacho@carmarthenshire.gov.uk or ring 01558 825390 to register.
