People living and working in Neath Port Talbot are being asked to give their views on how the Council and its partners can manage flood risk over the next six years.

Consultation on the Council’s draft Flood Risk Management Plan for 2015 to 2021 is underway and interested parties have two weeks left to comment on the plan.

The Council has a duty to develop the plan as part of the Flood Risk Regulations 2009 and the draft sets out actions that will be taken to manage the likelihood and impact of flooding in the county borough. It focuses on reducing the adverse consequences of flooding to human health, the environment, cultural heritage and economic activity.

Mike Roberts, Head of Streetcare said:

“Flooding can make whole communities live in fear of bad weather and have a devastating effect on people, causing damage to their homes and possessions.

“We would welcome feedback from residents, businesses and partner agencies. I would encourage them to take this opportunity to influence our approach and contribute their ideas to how we manage flood risk.”

The consultation will run until Monday 2nd November at 5pm, visit www.npt.gov.uk/consultations to have your say.

After the consultation ends, all comments will be taken into consideration before the plan is finalised and submitted to Natural Resources Wales.
