Shane Filan, the former lead singer of boyband Westlife, will be taking to the stage at Swansea’s Biggest Fireworks Display on Thursday November 5.
Westlife sold over 50 million records worldwide. Some of their biggest hits included Flying Without Wings, World of Our Own and My Love. Filan, who has now embarked on a solo career, recently released Right Here – his second solo album.
Swansea Council is behind the fireworks display. Other entertainment will include X Factor 2012 finalist Jahméne Douglas and walkabout entertainers.
Cllr Robert Francis-Davies, Swansea Council’s Cabinet Member for Enterprise, Development and Regeneration, said: “Shane Filan was a member of one of the most well-known and popular bands of the last 20 years, so we’re delighted to welcome him to Swansea.
“The combination of his appearance with X Factor star Jahméne Douglas, spectacular fireworks and other entertainment will lead to a night to remember at St Helen’s. The annual fireworks display is an extremely popular event, so I’d urge anyone interested in coming along to make sure they buy their tickets as soon as possible. This is one of many top-quality events in Swansea this autumn as the countdown to Christmas gathers pace.”
Steve Barnes, Senior Programmer for The Wave and Swansea Sound, said: “We’re extremely proud to be working with Swansea Council on this great event and to be bringing a top artist to Swansea.”
The gates for the event open at 5.30pm, with entertainment starting from 6pm and the fireworks starting from 7.30pm.
