A Llanllwni man has been fined £500 for allowing his dogs to bark excessively, causing a nuisance to residents.
Anthony Lloyd, who keeps his dogs in a field at New Inn, Pencader, was also ordered to pay £500 towards prosecution costs and a £50 Victim Surcharge.
He pleaded guilty to an offence contrary to Section 80 of the Environmental Protection Act 1990 at Carmarthen Magistrates Court in the prosecution brought by Carmarthenshire County Council on October 16, 2015.
The court heard that the council’s environmental health team had been contacted by his neighbours, who had complained about excessive dog barking, particularly late at night and in the early hours of the morning.
Following an investigation, a Statutory Nuisance in relation to dogs barking in an excessive manner was substantiated and an Abatement Notice was served.
The notice prohibited the recurrence of the excessive barking, and required Lloyd to ensure that his dogs do not cause a nuisance to neighbouring properties of his land.
Following receipt of a further complaint, further monitoring was undertaken and a breach of the notice was substantiated, resulting in the prosecution
