Leading partnerships developer Lovell is celebrating the second win of Senior Site Manager Geraint Thomas at this year’s NHBC (National House Building Council) Pride in the Job Quality Awards, following his first win in 2020.

Geraint Thomas has been selected from a field of more than 8,000 UK site mangers and is now one of 443 to be awarded the accolade for their work. Geraint has now received two Quality Awards, after also winning in 2020.

As the most highly regarded competition in the industry, the Pride in the Job Awards celebrate site managers who have achieved the very highest standards in house building, ensuring high-quality homes are delivered on time, on safe sites and to exacting construction standards.

The judging process for these awards began in July 2021, and each site manager was evaluated on their consistency, attention to detail, technical expertise, leadership, interpretation of drawings and specification, and health and safety skills.

Geraint works as a Senior Site Manager at the popular The Mill development in Canton, Cardiff, which is Wales’ largest regeneration project and providing a total of 800 mixed-tenure homes. The final two phases of the design and build scheme for Tirion Homes and Cadwyn are underway, and will deliver a further 262 affordable properties.

Geraint said: “The past year has been exceptionally challenging for my team and myself, both personally and professionally.

“This achievement is definitely one of the proudest moments in my career, and I’m so thankful for the support and talent of the team working alongside me at The Mill.”

James Duffett, regional manging director at Lovell, said: “I am exceptionally proud that our incredible Senior Site Manager Geraint has been chosen as a Pride in the Job Quality Award winner.

“For Geraint to receive this honour for the second time is a huge testament to his skill and commitment to creating quality new homes that people can feel proud to call home.

“This award not only recognises Geraint’s leadership, but the dedication, passion and commitment that exists within our site team and the supply chain who continue to produce homes of exceptional quality at The Mill. This is the most valued industry accolade a site manager can achieve and I wish Geraint the best of luck in the next stage of completion.”

Commenting on the Awards, NHBC Chief Executive Steve Wood said: “For more than 40 years, Pride in the Job has been an important part of our work to help drive construction quality. Winning site managers tell us that it inspires them to give a little extra and to strive harder for ever-higher standards of house building.

“At NHBC we believe that the calibre of the site manager and the way they inspire their site team has the greatest influence on the quality of the finished home. By promoting friendly rivalry, showcasing best practice and rewarding excellence, Pride in the Job supports the delivery of homes of the highest quality.

“Congratulations to all the 2022 Pride in the Job Quality Award winners. They are an inspiration to us all and should be very proud of the quality of new homes they are creating.”

Pride in the Job Quality Awards winners will now go on to compete for Seal of Excellence and Regional Awards, which will be announced in autumn. The national Supreme Awards will then be revealed in January 2023.
