The Welsh Government has announced a dedicated support line has been set up to help people affected by the terror attacks in Paris.
The Wales Paris Support Line, which is available from today (Tuesday 17 November), provides a confidential listening and emotional support service for Welsh citizens returning from Paris and for people with friends or relatives caught up in last week’s events.
The number – Freephone 0800 107 0900 or text help to 81066 – is manned by trained staff from the Community Advice and Listening Line (CALL) service and is available 24-hours-a-day, seven-days-a-week. The helpline will also direct people to other sources of support and help if they need it.
Health and Social Services Minister Mark Drakeford said:
“The terror attacks in Paris last week have shocked and appalled us all.
“The Welsh Government, the Welsh NHS and other partners are doing all we can to offer practical support and assistance to anyone from Wales who has been affected by these attacks.
“This new helpline will provide round-the-clock access to trained staff who can provide support and advice to people who have been affected by the events in Paris.
“For people who need more specialised support to help them deal with what they experienced and witnessed, the helpline will guide them to the most appropriate Welsh NHS services.”
