It was a case of kind-hearted contractor Phil Rees to the rescue when the team putting up Kidwelly’s Christmas Tree hit a snag.
The placing of Kidwelly’s main Christmas Tree near St Mary’s Church was delayed last week due to the high winds.
And when the winds died down, Cymru Christmas Trees owner Roger Hunt discovered another hiccup to his tree installation plans.
“It’s no-one’s fault, but when we arrived on site we found a skip blocking access to the tree site.
“Workmen have been busy working on premises nearby and, to be fair to them, they weren’t to know we needed access to the site.
“In the meantime, the town council had put up the festive lights, so we had to put our thinking caps on to find a way of easing the Christmas Tree into place without snagging on the lights.
“I went on social media and appealed for anyone with a spare teleloader, a mechanical lifting device.
“To our delight Phil Rees, of M4 Trailers in Cross Hands, came up trumps and turned up early on Sunday morning to help us put the tree in place.
“In total, we’ve supplied more than a dozen trees to Kidwelly Town Council – smaller ones of the shops, two for the memorial gardens and the big one in the centre of the town.”
Phil Rees, of M4Trailers, said: “I was glad to help out – even if it was a Sunday morning. I just couldn’t see the good people of Kidwelly going without their main Christmas Tree this year.”
