Annual Walrus Dip back after break

Hundreds of brave people turned up for the Annual Walrus Dip in Pembrey Country Park yesterday.  The ever popular event which was cancelled last year due to the plunging temperatures returned in the craziest and zaniest way possible.

Ron Cant of Carmarthenshire County Council said: “The festive Walrus Dip at Pembrey Country Park has captured the attention and the headlines every Boxing Day for 25 years.

“Swimmers have come dressed as bananas, fish, and walruses.  There has even been a group of wedding guests with bride and groom, and tribe of Native Americans chased by cowboys into the waves.

“It’s literally an occasion when anything goes while keeping Christmas spirits very much alive and kicking.”
