Neath Port Talbot Early Years and Childcare Unit is pleased to announce that a new social enterprise has been established in the Afan Valley to oversee two new childcare services in Glyncorrwg and Croeserw.
Applications to the Care and Social Services Inspectorate Wales have been submitted and it is envisaged that the new childcare services will be operational from the end of March 2016.

This is extremely encouraging and is the culmination of significant partnership working between the local communities and the local authority.

It has been a challenge to complete the process required to register a new childcare service, however this was made easier through the enthusiasm of the individuals working with the Early Years and Childcare Unit, along with volunteers who were interested in becoming engaged with this venture. The childcare provision was previously halted when Action for Children withdrew from the programme.

The registration process usually takes between 12 and 16 weeks to complete and it is hoped that both childcare services will be opened as soon as registration has been completed.

Neath Port Talbot Council for Voluntary Services provided invaluable support to register the Board of Directors as a company in order to move forward with this exciting venture.

Neath Port Talbot Council Leader, Cllr Ali Thomas OBE said: ‘I am very pleased that the Council is supporting the community to deliver childcare facilities within the Flying Start programme at Croeserw and Glyncorrwg, subject to the registration process. This local authority has always been fully committed to this provision and I’m glad that we are within touching distance to seeing childcare services being reinstated.’
