In a bid to help tackle climate change, many Brits are looking for ways in which they can do their bit for the planet.
As such, a recent study from Barratt Homes delves into Brits’ recycling guilty secrets to reveal that almost three quarters (72%) of us dispose of recyclable items in the regular waste bin.
The study surveyed 2,000 people across the UK and combined UK government recycling data to uncover the nation’s recycling habits.
The key findings of the study are:
- Almost three quarters of Brits admit to disposing of items they knew could be recycled into the regular waste bin
- 76% also admit they put items in the recycling bin without checking if it can be recycled
- Half of us have put items we knew couldn’t be recycled in the recycling bin
- Nearly a third of Brits think kitchen rolls can go in the recycling bin
- 40% of UK don’t realise that cartons can be recycled
