THREE PEOPLE FINED FOR DOG FOULING OFFENCES

Three people have been fined for failing to clean up after their dogs.
Council environmental enforcement officers were on patrol in the Maes Piode area of Llandybie when they spotted a dog fouling in the grounds of Glan Marlais care home.
The male in charge of the dog failed to clean it up and was issued with a fixed penalty notice for £75.
Later that day whilst on patrol in the Bonllwyn area of Ammanford, officers saw a dog foul on the grassed area adjacent to Llandybie Road. A female was issued with a fixed penalty notice as a result.
Finally in the Llangunnor area of Carmarthen, officers gave a fixed penalty notice to a man who failed to clean up after his dog fouled on the grassed area outside Yr Aelwyd sheltered housing complex.
Failure to pay the fixed penalty notices could lead to prosecution in the magistrates court where the maximum fine that can be imposed is £1,000.
Executive Board Member for Environmental and Public Protection Cllr Jim Jones said: “Dog mess left anywhere can carry serious health risks.
“The majority of dog owners are responsible and pick up after their pets; however, there is a small minority who do not and they will be fined.”
