Traders in Carmarthen Market have raised over £150 after holding a special Christmas raffle in aid of Cancer Research.
The raffle was organised by traders Deborah Gates and Sharon Harrison of Rugs, Fabrics and Curtains, who have celebrated their first anniversary in the market this month, providing customers with free cakes, punch, mince pies and sweets.
The first prize was a hamper worth £150 including make up, a calendar, clock, chutney, perfume, a picture, purse, small rug, ladies scarf, bottle of wine, table runner and more.
There were four more raffle prizes including bottles of wine and a special booby prize.
The draw was held in the indoor market on Tuesday, December 1, by the town’s Deputy Mayor, councillor and former Carmarthen market trader Wyn Thomas.
Cllr Thomas praised traders’ fundraising efforts and thanked shoppers for supporting the worthwhile cause. “The hamper is beautiful,” he said.
“A great amount has been raised so a big thank you to all the traders for their contributions and to all the shoppers who have taken part in the raffle.”
Raffle organiser Mrs Harrison echoed his words of gratitude towards traders and shoppers and also thanked Cllr Thomas for drawing the raffle.
