Help the Admiral Swansea Bay 10k be named Britain’s best

You have the chance to make sure the Admiral Swansea Bay 10k is named the best race of its kind in the UK.

The event has been shortlisted in the 10k category of the UK Running Awards 2016 that recognise Britain’s best races.

The Admiral Swansea Bay 10k has already made the final 12 out of 120 entrants after a first round of voting. A second round of voting is now open at www.therunningawards.com where you can help ensure the Swansea event crosses the line in first place.

All you have to do is visit the website and find the 10k voting area through the running events section.
Swansea Council organises the annual event, which has taken place every year since 1981. The winners of the UK Running Awards 2016 will be announced at the O2 on Friday April 22 – the same weekend as the London Marathon.

Cllr Robert Francis-Davies, Swansea Council’s Cabinet Member for Enterprise, Development and Regeneration, said: “People across the Swansea Bay area and beyond have until March 22 to vote for the Admiral Swansea Bay 10k and help ensure it gets the recognition it deserves.

“The race has grown in popularity and stature since the early 1980s to become one of the very best events of its kind. It’s a credit to Swansea Bay, everyone involved in its organisation, our fantastic volunteers and the thousands of people who tackle the scenic course every year between St Helen’s and Mumbles.

“If you’ve already voted for the race to be named among the UK’s top 12 of its kind, it doesn’t matter because you can vote again to ensure the event wins the top prize. We’re up against some bigger 10k events with larger numbers of participants, so we need all the support we can get from people who take part, volunteers and spectators. Being named best 10k in the UK Running Awards would further raise the profile of the event and help encourage even more entries next year.”
