Looking at search volume data, a research commissioned by CasinoTop10.net came up with a list of the most popular costumes based on characters from the Harry Potter series.

Harry Potter is the most popular costume, with an average of 15,000 monthly searches. All you need is some face makeup for your scar, round glasses, a Gryffindor costume, and you are ready to go.
A very close second is Hermione Granger costume, with 14,000 searches. If you want to make this more interesting, get a cat ears headband, put on a ginger wig, use a lot of face makeup and recreate Hermione’s post-Polyjuice-potion-accident look.
In third place is Bellatrix Lestrange costume, which has 3,800 monthly searches on average. To recreate her look, you will need a black long sleeve maxi dress, a little crazy in your eyes, and a lot of tease in your hair.
Luna Lovegood costume is in fourth place, with 3,500 searches. This one will require a lot of colours, starting with a pink jacket, a colourful flared skirt, and bright-coloured leggings. Don’t forget your Spectrespecs!
Hagrid costume is the fifth most popular, with 1,800 searches. To recreate the friendly giant’s recognizable look, you will need a lot of brown: shirt, trousers, boots, belt, coat, plus a large set of keys on you. An oak umbrella wand is optional.
