First Minister Carwyn Jones’ Christmas message to the people of Wales.

“Christmas is a special time of year; a time for friends and families to come together in peace to celebrate and enjoy each other’s company.”

“The message of peace and hope is particularly poignant this year given the recent events in Tunisia and Paris and the ongoing situation in the Middle East.

“At Christmas, it’s more important than ever that we spread the message of togetherness and unity in our Welsh communities. We have a proud tradition of being a friendly and hospitable nation. As fifty Syrian refugees make their home in Wales, they will be experiencing their first festive season in the UK – I’m sure they’ll get a warm Welsh welcome and we wish them well in their new lives.

“So I hope you all have a very happy Christmas, but please spare a thought for those working hard over the festive period. Those in our emergency services; medical professionals; charities, care workers and those in our armed forces all deserve our thanks. They work tirelessly while we enjoy ourselves.

“Nadolig Llawen I chi gyd – I hope you have a wonderful time.”
