Action for Children's Families First Parenting team in Bridgend

Acton for Children’s Families First Parenting service in Bridgend has teamed up with partners in the area to put on a wellbeing day for the families we support.  Parents and carers enjoyed mindfulness sessions, creative writing, wellbeing advice, jewellery making, weight loss tips, healthy and wholesome recipes as well as an internet safety session with South Wales Police.

Partners including Bridgend Association of Voluntary Organisations (BAVO), Baobab Community Pantries, Steer Enterprise Academy, Bridgend Borough Council, Splice Child and Family Project and Team Tanio joined Action for Children at Tondu Cricket Club to deliver the wellbeing day.

Bridgend-based company and long-term Action for Children supporter, Zimmer Biomet, also kindly funded wellbeing bags for parents who attended to continue their positive emotional wellbeing journey.

Alison Meredith, Parental Co-ordinator for Families First Parenting, said: ‘The families we support really enjoyed the day.  It was lovely to get people together and discuss mental health and wellbeing issues as well as providing the opportunity to express themselves through art and creative writing.

‘Of equal importance during a cost-of-living crisis, families appreciated the information on Community Pantries in Bridgend that do such sterling work in providing cheap food as well as easy and wholesome recipes that won’t break the bank.  Communities are at their best when they come together, and this was a great example in Bridgend.  Thank you to all our partners who helped us make it happen and all those who attended.’
