Caerphilly County Borough Council is currently sending letters to all its tenants informing them of changes that will be made as part of the Renting Homes (Wales) Act.
The Renting Homes (Wales) Act is the biggest change to housing law in Wales for decades.
From 1 December 2022 Welsh Government plan for the Renting Homes (Wales) Act 2016 to change the way all landlords in Wales rent their properties. It will improve how homes are rented and managed in Wales.
There will be some new terms to get used to, under the new law, tenants will become ‘contract-holders’. Tenancy agreements will be replaced with ‘occupation contracts’.
Tenants do not need to do anything at this stage, but the Council is encouraging them to read the information sent to them regarding the changes.
