As a result of extending the service, the Council will also be able to collect your real Christmas trees. Just purchase the garden waste bags from the Council, which have the Council’s logo printed on the side, and tie to the trunk of the Christmas tree. The garden waste bags are available from your local Customer Service Centres, Local Offices and Tourist Information Centres.
Councillor Alun Williams, Cabinet Member for Transport, Waste and Carbon Management said: “The Council’s Garden Waste Collection is popular amongst gardeners and residents with lawns and hedges. Usage naturally reduces in the winter but there’s still some demand and we’d like to be able to provide for this.”
He adds: “Central government cuts to council funding mean that we have to think creatively if we want to maintain our services. By using the same vehicle to collect the Garden Waste and Bulky Waste we can provide both services all winter. And this year, for the first time, we’ll now also be collecting real Christmas trees.”
As with other services provided by Ceredigion County Council, the Garden Waste service is subject to review. Efforts will be made to notify service users of any changes.
For further information about the service please call the contact centre on 01545 572572 or visit www.ceredigion.gov.uk/gardenwaste.
