Spider-Man easily takes the top spot, with over 16,000 searches more than the second-ranked Hulk.- Venom is in third place, getting a popularity boost from Tom Hardy’s two movies.
- Deadpool, Ant-Man, and Flash are also in the top 10.
Although some reports claim that the popularity of the franchise is declining, the Marvel Cinematic Universe is nonetheless one of the highest-grossing franchises ever, grossing a total of over £19 billion in box offices worldwide. MCU’s newest release Black Panther: Wakanda Forever hit the $500 million mark only two weeks after its premiere.
Naturally, all the movies and TV shows are accompanied by plentiful fan merchandise, so if you have a Marvel fan at home and you have a creative block when it comes to this year’s Christmas present, one (or several) Marvel toys might be what you’re looking for.
Analysing Google volume data from British searchers, researchers from Gembyte.com came up with a list of the most popular Marvel toys, in hope to help you find some Christmas present inspiration.

Spider-Man is by far the most popular MCU character, with 22,000 monthly searches for Spider-Man toys. No doubt that Tom Holland’s charismatic portrayal of Peter Parker has something to do with it, as well as the fact that the latest Spider-Man movie, No Way Home, brought back Andrew Garfield and Toby Maguire, who have portrayed the hero before the British actor.
Hulk toys take second place, with 5,400 searches. The cunningly brilliant monster walks the line between a superhero and an antihero, but his wild, unpredictable personality contrasted by his sporadic strokes of genius have made him a favourite among Marvel fans.
With 5,200 searches, Venom toys are in third place. The sentient alien appears in the Marvel comic books as Spider-Man’s enemy, and, although the film series starring Tom Hardy is not a part of the MCU, the two movies have significantly increased the popularity of Spider-Man’s psychotic distortion.
Tony Stark comes fourth, with 3,200 searches for Iron Man toys. The last we have seen of Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark was in Avengers: Endgame, but his popularity remains, as he beats the likes of Doctor Strange, Ant-Man, and Deadpool.
In fifth place is Black Panther, with 1,800 monthly searches. After the loss of Chadwick Boseman, the second Black Panther movie set out to pay homage to their king, and, based on audience ratings and reactions, it has succeeded, celebrating and cementing the legacy of both Chadwick Boseman and King T’Challa.
A spokesperson for Gembyte, Daniel Tamm, said: “MCU’s success is one for the books. They continue to further explore and bring constant innovation to the world of superhero movies, and it is all followed by great marketing strategies. With so many characters, marketing possibilities are endless, and the MCU merchandise has exploded in recent years, offering anything from clothes, costumes, and pyjamas to toys, mugs, and jewellery; the choices are endless.”
