The Chairman of Carmarthenshire County Council has raised almost £2,000 for his charities through an event starring Wales football manager Chris Coleman.
Cllr Peter Hughes Griffiths organised An Evening with Chris Coleman at St Peter’s Civic Hall in Carmarthen last Friday night along with the Carmarthen Stars football club.
The evening started with the FAW’s Ian Gwyn Hughes interviewing Chris Coleman followed by a break for photographs and autographs. Then there was a question and answer session.
The event raised £1,830 for the Chairman’s charities Wales Talking Books and Tenovus West Wales Cancer Care, and £500 for the Carmarthen Stars.
Cllr Hughes Griffiths said: “We had an excellent evening in St Peter’s Hall. We sold every ticket and the Wales manager was at his best talking and answering questions, and the supporters had the honour of taking their pictures with him.
“Everyone rose as one at the end of the evening and applauded to show their appreciation of his presence and contribution. This was a night to remember in the history of football in Carmarthen.”
