Leading partnerships developer Lovell has helped bring a touch of green to the Libanus Lifestyle centre in Blackwood, Caerphilly, by donating and planting trees and a selection of herbs on the charity’s premises.

Libanus Lifestyle is a community organisation providing services and events for adults with disabilities, the elderly, and the disadvantaged. This community hub is located in the heart of Blackwood, designed to facilitate the needs of local people.

At the centre, the charity provides sessions on mindfulness and relaxation, bereavement and loss, fitness and exercise, and arts and crafts, alongside online dance classes and parent and toddler groups.

In keeping with the productive nature of the site and Libanus Lifestyle’s aims to serve the local community of Blackwood, Lovell subcontractors Gerald Davis LTD has planted three plum trees and a mix of herbs, including rosemary, basil, mint and varieties of thyme in the centre’s garden.

Gerald Davis LTD also volunteered their time to the organisation by ensuring that everything was planted correctly and safely so that the environment can be enjoyed for years to come.

The newly planted plum trees and herbs will provide food to eat for many years into the future, transforming the garden into a valuable asset for the local community.

Gemma Clissett, regional partnerships director at Lovell, said: “We were delighted to work with Gerald Davis LTD to bring a new lease of life to the Libanus Lifestyle centre and provide them with a sustainable garden that will continue to thrive for years to come.

“Libanus Lifestyle carries out hugely important work to support the people of Blackwood, and it’s been a pleasure to support them.”

The donation comes as Lovell is building new homes nearby, at the Chartist Garden Village development in Pontllanfraith. Chartist Garden Village is a design and build scheme being delivered by Lovell for Pobl Group and Caerphilly County Borough Council, on the former council office site. The development will consist of 123 open market homes and affordable homes for rent and shared ownership.
