2022’s Top 10 PC Games by Monthly Active Users 

• The PC game with the largest amount of monthly active users in December 2022 was ROBLOX, the game has a Discord community called ‘Roblox’ with 976,538 members. 
• In second place is Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II / Warzone 2.0, the largest Discord community for this game is called ‘Call of Duty’ with 496,174 members. 
• In third place is Fortnite, Fortnite’s largest Discord community is called ‘Official Fortnite’ and has 887,429 users. 

A study has revealed that the PC game with the largest amount of monthly active users for 2022 was ROBLOX.  

The research was conducted by gaming site solitaired.com who analysed data from newzoo.com, top.gg, and the Discord client itself. Discord is an instant messaging platform that is predominantly used by gamers to voice, text, and video chat via servers/communities or privately. 

The number of members in each Discord community was taken on 25^th January 2023. 

The PC game with the largest amount of monthly active users in December 2022 was ROBLOX, the game has a Discord community called ‘Roblox’ with 976,538 members. The maximum amount of people that can be in a Discord community is 1,000,000. 

In second place is Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II (CoD:MWII) / Warzone 2.0, the largest Discord community for this game is called ‘Call of Duty’ with 496,174 members. 

In third place is Fortnite, Fortnite’s largest Discord community is called ‘Official Fortnite’ and has 887,429 users. 

Minecraft is in fourth place, and its largest Discord community is called ‘MINECRAFT’ with 973,482 members. 

The Sims 4 is in fifth place, and its largest Discord community is called ‘r/Sims4’ after its popular page on the social media website Reddit. It has only 7,732 members, the lowest amount of any of the games in the study; probably due to the game being the only single-player game in the study. 

The sixth-placed PC game by monthly active users is League of Legends (LoL). The game’s largest Discord community is called ‘r/leagueoflegends’ after its popular page on Reddit. It has 460,248 members. 

The seventh-placed PC game by monthly active users is Overwatch 2. The game’s largest Discord community is called ‘Overwatch 2’ and has 414,527 members. 

In eighth place is Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO). Its largest Discord community is called ‘Counter-Strike: Global Offensive’ and has 158,139 members. 

In ninth place is Grand Theft Auto V (GTA V). Its largest Discord community is called ‘GTA online’ and has 492,517 members. 

Finally, Valorant is in tenth place for monthly active users. Valorant’s Discord community has 997,668 members in it; the largest community in the study. The name of the community is ‘VALORANT’. 

A spokesperson for solitaired.com commented on the study:

“Video gaming has come a long way from the days where you had to be physically next to somebody to play a game with them.  

Nowadays, people can forge long-lasting friendships and bonds with people worldwide whilst playing video games, and it is great to see that Discord is facilitating that. 

Even with single-player games like ‘The Sims 4’ we can see that people are getting together to talk and discussing their love for the game.”
