New research has revealed the most prolific Premier League forwards this season, with Erling Haaland coming out on top.
The study conducted by comparison site JohnSlots analyzed the statistics of players who have played more than 500 minutes of football in the Premier League this season to see who had the best ‘minutes per goal contribution’ so far.
It found that Manchester City striker Erling Haaland is the most prolific forward in the league this season. Having played a total of 1,868 minutes of league football at the time of the study, the Norwegian forward has amassed a total of 26 goals and 4 assists, at just 62 minutes per goal contribution.
Coming in second is Leicester City striker Kelechi Iheanacho. Despite playing a much smaller amount of minutes than other players on the list with 508, in that time he has scored 4 goals and collected 4 assists, meaning he has just 73 minutes per goal contribution in the league.
Roberto Firmino takes third place on the list, with the Liverpool forward having played a total of 978 minutes this season. In that time, he has amassed a total of 7 goals and 3 assists, at just 98 minutes per goal contribution in the league this season.
Taking fourth place on the list is Brentford striker Ivan Toney. He has racked up a total of 14 goals and 3 assists in 1,882 minutes of football this season, giving him a minutes per contribution of just 111 minutes.
Rounding out the top five is Tottenham striker Harry Kane, who has played more minutes this season than any other player in the top ten with 2,148. In that time, he has scored 17 goals and collected 2 assists, coming in with 113 minutes per goal contribution in the Premier League.

Commenting on the findings, a spokesperson for JohnSlots said: “It’s interesting to see the difference in minutes played between some of the entries on the list. Many people would expect to see Erling Haaland at the top of the list, but Iheanacho and Firmino in the top three will surprise a lot of people. As the season develops and reaches a climax, how this list changes could be anyone’s guess, especially with how unpredictable the Premier League can be.”
