This Easter, Asda has launched four new flavours of Hot Cross Bun – each offering a tantalising twist on the classic Spring treat.

Looking for a fresh take on a fruity bun? Described by one shopper as ‘a taste of Spring sunshine’, Asda’s Extra Special Lemon & White Chocolate Hot Cross Buns (£1.60 for a pack of four) combine rich white chocolate chunks with zesty, candied lemon peel for a zingy, citrusy bite.

For fans of fruity flavours, Asda’s Extra Special Blueberry Hot Cross Buns (£1.60 for a pack of four) are a sure winner. Packed with plump currants and sweet blueberries, these pillowy soft buns promise to be a favourite amongst children and adults alike thanks to their delicate sweetness.

Packed full of juicy sultanas, Asda’s Extra Special Apple & Cinnamon Hot Cross Buns (£1.60 for a pack of four) are rich, aromatic and bursting with delicate flavour and spice. Prepared with tart apple purée, fragrant cinnamon and chunks of sugar-coated apple, each bite is delightfully soft and fragrant.

For those with more of a savoury tooth, Asda’s Extra Special Cheese & Black Pepper Hot Cross Buns (£1.60 for a pack of four) are an edgier take on the iconic Easter treat. Made with sourdough for a wonderfully soft base, each bun is prepared with a rich blend of Red Leicester, extra mature Cheddar and cracked black pepper – heavenly when served with lashings of salty butter, or, as one shopper discovered: ‘toasted, buttered with Lurpak and paired with some soup’.

Hot Cross Bun traditionalists need not fear, as Asda’s new range also includes classics such as the Asda Extra Special Extra Fruity Hot Cross Buns (£1.60 for a pack of four). Beautifully buttery with a delicately spiced flavour, each bun is prepared with sumptuous vine fruits and vostizza currants – perfect for Hot Cross Bun connoisseurs who know what they like.

The new launches form part of a 10-product strong range, including favourites such as The Bakery at Asda Hot Cross Buns  (£1.50 for a pack of four) and The Bakery at Asda Large Hot Cross Buns (£1.50 for a pack of four), which available all year round.

The retailer is also stocking Free-From options for those who are gluten, egg and milk free, ensuring no customer is left behind. For fans of a classic, there’s the Vegan-Society approved Asda Free From Hot Cross Buns (£2.20 for a pack of four), whilst the Asda Free From Chilli & Cheddar Alternative Hot Cross Buns (£2.20 for a pack of four) and Asda Free From Choc Chip Hot Cross Buns (£2.20 for a pack of four) offer a tempting twist on the traditional bun.
