As Easter approaches, new research reveals Wales’ top choices for Easter Sunday lunch include a roast dinner, steak and BBQ.

Commissioned by Sainsbury’s, the survey looks at the nation’s Easter food preferences and across the UK found:

•            Roast dinner rules for 51% celebrating Easter

•            Fish pie, fried chicken and pizza are among top alternatives for the remaining 49%

•            1 in 3 roast lovers choose lamb, with chicken and beef top runners-up

•            77% find food elevates Easter, but 51% are looking to save money this year

•            Gen Z is experimental:

o            25% choose hot sauce or BBQ sauce to garnish their Easter roast

o            1 in 5 enjoy baked beans, bread or black pudding on the side

Data for Wales shows:

•            76% say food adds joy to their Easter celebrations

•            46% of those in Wales didn’t know lamb was the traditional meat eaten on Easter Sunday, more than any other region of the UK

•            10% would top their Easter roast with BBQ sauce, with 10% also opting for cheese sauce

Sainsbury’s is helping to maximise joy this Easter by offering great value, whatever consumers are eating this Easter – whether you like lamb, beef or pizza, prefer hot or BBQ sauce, and even if you want to top your roast with baked beans.
