Help Aberglasney win the title of RHS ‘Garden of the Year’ and you can be a winner too!

Aberglasney has the opportunity to be named the RHS’ top ‘Feel Good Garden’ in the UK and beyond, but the Gardens need your votes to win! The RHS (Royal Horticultural Society) is inviting garden visitors to vote for their favourite RHS Partner Garden ‘Garden of the Year’.

Votes can be cast via the RHS website: RHS Partner Garden of the Year competition 2023 / RHS Gardening until 29 September 2023. Visitors can choose their favourite gardens in each of six regions: Midlands and East Anglia; North and Northern Ireland; Overseas; Scotland; South-East and Channel Islands; the South West and Wales.

All voters (you don’t need to be a member of the RHS) will be entered into a prize draw to win a pair of tickets to the RHS Hampton Court Palace Garden Festival in 2024 with a luxury two-night stay close to the showground.

RHS Partner Garden Manager Helen Feary said, “The RHS Partner Garden of the Year competition is growing from strength to strength and we’re delighted that nearly twice as many votes were cast in 2022 as in 2021. It’s heart-warming to read so many wonderful comments about how good a visit to the garden makes people feel. With so many gardens taking part and encouraging their visitors to vote, it should be easier than ever for people to show their appreciation for their favourite garden.”

The gardens will be ranked according to the number of votes they have received relative to their total visitor numbers for the previous year and the comments from their voters, to determine the winner for each region and the overall winner. The winners will be revealed in December and will receive a special plaque to display at their property as well as a professional photoshoot of their garden.

There are currently 221 gardens in the RHS Partner Gardens scheme, including 18 new gardens in 2023, which RHS Members can visit free of charge at selected times of the year. They comprise some of the most famous gardens in the world as well as privately-owned hidden gems. Beyond the UK, RHS partner gardens can be found in eight countries including Barbados, Japan and South Africa.

Aberglasney’s Director of Operations, Jim Stribling, said, “We know our visitors and members already appreciate a visit to Aberglasney makes them feel good, but it would be fantastic to win this prestigious title of top ‘Feel Good Garden’. We hope we can rely on everyone to vote for us and please leave a comment saying why a visit to the Gardens improves your health and well being, as that is like an extra vote.”

Aberglasney Gardens are open 364 days a year and have been described as one of Wales’ finest gardens. Visitors to the Carmarthenshire attraction can explore 10 acres of over 20 different garden styles from formal to woodland, right through to exotic and modern. Exhibitions and events are held regularly in the fully restored ground floor of Aberglasney’s grade II listed mansion. There is also a Giftshop and Tearooms.
