Broadway Partners invests into Pembrokeshire with pledge of support for

Hermon’s Y Stiwdio arts and community centre

17 April 2023 – Broadway Partners, a specialist rural broadband provider, has pledged support for a local arts and sustainability hub in Hermon, Pembrokeshire.

The Y Stiwdio centre, nestled in Hermon, offers a creative space to learn and grow where residents in the nearby areas can come to work, learn and be part of a community working towards a more sustainable future.

Broadway has already consulted and is in the process of delivering connections to 443 properties in nearby Crymych and across Pembrokeshire, as part of its commitment to delivering digital freedom to rural communities and bringing fast fibre broadband to even the most remote of locations.

Collaborating with Welsh Local Authorities, Broadway’s installation plans see the company investing in Fibre to the Premises (FTTP) Gigabit-ready infrastructure and delivering to communities across rural areas of Wales including Pembrokeshire, as well as Monmouthshire and Powys in South and Mid Wales.

Opening access to a reliable broadband connection allows Broadway customers to speak to and see loved ones around the world, as well as accessing necessary services including healthcare services and online banking.

With consultative processes including engaging communities at the heart of connection plans, Broadway is renowned for its community first approach that ensure broadband can be delivered even to the most isolated of areas. The company has already been giving back to local residents across its network with community initiatives including sponsoring local football teams, connecting village community hubs, and supporting educational services. Broadway Partners offer transparency from initial consultation through to the delivery and final connection.

Last year also saw Broadway recognised as a Carbon Neutral Business, and in collaboration with Carbon Neutral Britain they continue working on lowering carbon emissions and calculating and offsetting against future projects. The carbon neutrality status makes Broadway one of the first carbon neutral ISPs in the UK and reiterates their commitment to sustainable and ethical broadband that supports rural environments without damaging them.

Broadway’s projects across Wales have been bringing connections to premises within rural areas of Wales including Pembrokeshire and supporting residents and businesses in these areas with gigabit-capable full-fibre broadband with speeds up to 1Gpsbps (1 gigabit per second).

“Y Stiwdio is nestled amongst a cluster of our Crymych phases as we work through our installation and delivery of  fibre broadband. We currently have 443 properties including residential homes and small businesses that are joining our network and due to their remote locations, they have previously been unable to have a reliable connection that allows them to access loved ones across the world, access online banking and healthcare or to work fully remotely from their home.

“It will provide us with a fantastic asset for Y Stiwdio – our community arts and sustainability hub in Hermon, North Pembrokeshire.

“We have already put it to good use in delivering a ‘Build your wind turbine’ workshop where our instructor covered the theory of renewable energy, and it is currently being used as part of our exhibition ‘Celebrating Growing Better Connections’. We hope there will be more opportunities to work together again in the future.”
