Fit 4 Fun believe it’s important to involve children as much as possible in cooking daily meals and the aim of these recipes is to get all the family into the kitchen to prepare some healthy and nutritious dishes, which everyone can enjoy!
Boiled Egg & Soldiers
What you need
- 1 egg per person
- 1 piece of toast per person
Equipment
- Saucepan
- Knife
Â
Â
Â
What you do
- Take a small pan and gently place a large egg in it. Add enough cold water to completely cover the egg, and put the pan over a high heat.
- After a few minutes, the water will boil. Turn the heat down to a simmer. Time 3 minutes if you like really soft-boiled eggs, 4 minutes for a set white and a creamy yolk, or 5 minutes for a set white and firm yolk that’s just a little bit squidgy in the centre.Â
- When the egg is ready, remove the egg from the boiling water. Put it into an egg cup, and use a teaspoon to take off the top of the egg. Take care as the egg may be hot. Peel away the shell around the rim and serve with wholemeal toast cut into strips, known as ‘soldiers’!
Take Care! Make sure an adult helps with boiling the water and using the knife
