A new supplier feedback service aimed to enable business to support the improvement of public sector procurement , has been launched by Finance and Government Business Minister Jane Hutt.
The new service will provide suppliers with a channel to offer feedback on public sector procurement policy and delivery.
It will act as a single point of contact for supplier queries to help improve the development and deployment of Welsh public sector procurement policy. It will help suppliers, regardless of their size or location, to seek advice, resolve issues and develop a greater understanding on public procurement policy and rules.
Finance Minister Jane Hutt said:
âI want to ensure that public sector procurement in Wales is being carried out in a fair, open and consistent manner and is in line with our Welsh procurement policy.
âThe Supplier Feedback Service which I have launched today will provide businesses, including SMEâs, with a clear route to positively engage with public sector procurement.  By providing  an opportunity to ask questions, the service will make it easier for businesses to compete, and hopefully win public sector work and in turn boost the Welsh economy.
âProcurement can, and is delivering economic benefits to the people of Wales and we are already seeing some great results. Â Wales based suppliers now win almost 70% of all contracts awarded through our sell2wales website. Â This new supplier feedback service will help us build on this success and further open up public sector procurement opportunities to business.â
The supplier feedback service launched delivers on principle 6 of the refreshed Wales Procurement Policy Statement which was published last June and was also recommended as part of the John McClellandâs âMaximising the impact of Welsh procurement policyâ report.
