50th Anniversary Concert of Burry Port Male Choir

Guest artistes Shân Cothi and John Owen Jones to perform with Burry Port Male choir who are supported by Haverfordwest and Flint Male Choirs, Cor Meibion Cwmann and Cor Meibion Mynydd Mawr.

Age Cymru Nordic Walking

Training is now taking place at North Dock on Wednesday’s meeting at 1.45 pm in the Dragon Office car park near North Dock. Please come along.

Poles will be provided but wear good walking shoes or trainers. There will be Nordic Walking and taster sessions at The National Wetlands Centre on Sunday 4 March at 11am and 1.30 pm.

Normal entry fees to the Wetlands apply but the Nordic Walking is free. Beginners and trained walkers welcome. Poles will be provided.

Burry Port Christian Forum

On Friday 24 February at 7.30pm in the Memorial Hall annexe the Christian Forum is hosting a talk on the sinking of the Titanic by local expert Tony Waters. Entitled Titanic, Ship of Dreams – the Welsh links, the presentation will mark the centenary of the sinking of the White Star ship which is being remembered on 14th April 2012.

There will be photographs, an original interview with a survivor, White Star reproductions and artefacts from the Titanic. These include a letter posted from the ship and wood from the ship which was picked up by the Minia, the second of four ships chartered by the White Star Line to search for bodies in the aftermath of the sinking. British Legion Entertainment

The Royal British Legion Club presents on Saturday 25 February, a male vocal attraction show featuring Robb Dee. Doors open 7pm.Bingo last books 7.50pm.Admission members £2 and guests £3.Guests must be signed in.

Burry Port Folk Club

The folk club meets next on Monday 27 February at the Coasting Pilot, Bridge Street.

It now meets every Monday evening starting at 7.30pm.These are “open mic” acoustic nights and we invite singers, instrumentalists, poetry readers, story tellers etc. and also those who wish to sit back and enjoy. A PA system is available for use. Each singer is allowed three songs in the first round and two in the second, time permitting.

Llanelli Youth Theatre

Their forthcoming production of Alice by Heart which is a fresh new rock-musical take on Alice in Wonderland is on 14th-17th March at 7.30pm and a Saturday matinee at 3.30pm at Burry Port Memorial Hall. Cefn Sidan U3a

The Burry Port and Pembrey U3A group meetings in March include the Tuesday 6 is the committee meeting at 10.30am and the film group at 2.15pm showing the film Shirley Valentine. Also on Tuesday 6 is the short walk group meeting at 1.55pm for details contact Jill on 834061.

Tuesday 13 is craft/art group at 2.15pm.Wednesday 14 the business, theatre and excursion group coffee morning is at 11am.

The main monthly speakers meeting on Monday 19 is at 2.15pm with talk on Life at the Vicarage. Tuesday 20 at 10.15am is the local history group barge trip.

Tuesday 20 short walk is cancelled.  Monday 26 the drama group meet at 2.15pm. Tuesday 27 at 11am is the long walk group contact Jill as before.
