Green Gathering Festival

The Green Gathering has been awarded the International Greener Festival Award, the highest accolade in the world for sustainable events, and for good measure, also won the International Greener Power Award for demonstrating that it’s possible to run a whole festival using only renewable sources of power to meet electrical needs.

The awarding body, A Greener Future, works to improve the sustainability of events, tours, venues and festivals across the planet, this is what they said about the Green Gathering –

“Green Gathering is known as the original off grid festival; sustainability was never an afterthought here – it is the very reason the festival began and is at the heart of everything.  The Green Gathering is a shining example of just how green a festival can be”.

This year’s Green Gathering takes place from 3rd – 6th August 2023, at Piercefield Park, a renowned beauty spot with majestic views, on the outskirts of charming Welsh town, Chepstow.

Despite its success, the festival team never rests on its laurels and has been busy creating and updating attractions and activities for this year’s event, including The Radical Flank, an intimate, experimental dance venue, tucked amongst trees; this hideaway bar and outdoor dance area hosts DIY sound systems powered by the sun and chill out spaces in shady woodland.

The reimagined Nature’s Way is an avenue leading from the festival’s Stone Circle, past the Voices of Gaia talkspace, through an arched entrance into a dappled glade…..

Here the core elements of The Green Gathering meet and are grounded – earth, nature, wellbeing, storytelling, ritual and connection, where visitors are invited to explore sights, sounds and experiences to open their minds, touch their hearts, delight their senses and feel inspired.

“We want to bring magic back into everyone’s lives”.   Em Weirdigan, Festival Director

For music lovers, this year’s eclectic Green Gathering line-up includes Mobius Loop with their gloriously eccentric fusion of folk, world music and conscious rap; Indian Man melding his Punjabi Indian roots with dub, garage and Jungle beats, flamboyant danceable, jazz-punk from Ask My Bull and contemporary distinctive folk, with strong melodies and thought-provoking lyrics from Hannah Scott.

Other attractions include cabaret and walkabout performers, kids’ area, crafts and campaigns areas, cafes and bars, market and village green, talks and debates.

Tickets can be purchased from ticket agent ‘The Ticketsellers’ via a direct link from The Green Gathering website.
