DiscoverCars.com launch new innovative car rental price tool 

DiscoverCars.com has introduced a new Skyscanner-type tool to aid users in identifying the destinations with the cheapest rental car prices.

The summer holiday season is almost upon us. As a result, many of us will be starting to plan ahead and consider where to unwind throughout the warmer months. However, the rise in costs, specifically for rental cars has dictated where a lot of people choose to visit.

That’s why DiscoverCars.com has introduced a new tool to help identify the locations offering the cheapest costs for renting a vehicle.

With the rise of fuel prices throughout 2022, rental cars saw a dramatic increase in price. DiscoverCars.com’s internal data revealed that costs had risen by 267% in Ireland, 264% in Canada, 85% in the United Kingdom, and 28% in the US state of Illinois between 2021 and 2022.

It has led to rental cars dictating where people choose to go on holiday, but with the introduction of the new Skyscanner-type tool, users will be able to examine which destinations are offering the best deals.

Speaking on the new tool, Aleksandrs Buraks at DiscoverCars.com said:

Using the new tool, the top five cheapest destinations for renting a vehicle throughout the first week of June 2023 were:

1. Croatia: £19
2. Romania: £19
3. Spain: £25
4. Portugal: £25
5. Poland: £31

By combining the use of both DiscoverCars.com’s tool and flight comparison sites, users will be able to gain a better understanding of prices for flights, hotels, and now rental vehicles.

Interestingly, on flight comparison sites, only Poland ranks in the top five for flight costs highlighting the disparity between the cheapest places to rent a car in comparison to flight prices.

Belgium, which ranked as the cheapest on flight comparison sites for prices from Heathrow (£96) was displayed as the 58th cheapest country for renting a vehicle (£186). That means the total would be £282 for flights and a rental car.

By using DiscoverCars.com’s tool first and selecting Croatia, which ranked as the cheapest country to rent a car (£19) and then cross-referencing this with flight comparison sites (£169), people are able to get a better deal on a holiday and vehicle rental (£188). 

This is particularly useful as many continue to feel the effects of the cost of living crisis, budget holidays will be the focus of so many this year and this tool assists in planning a cost-effective holiday.
