Asda Llanelli Fire update
There was a substantial fire at the Asda Llanelli superstore in the Town Centre and Mid and West Wales Fire Service have said that the building in Murray Street was smoke logged.
Six fire crews from Llanelli, Gorseinon, Swansea West, Pontyates and Tumble were sent to the scene to tackle the blaze which was also affecting neighbouring stores and Dyfed-Powys Police had closed Murray Street and were redirecting traffic from the area.
One unconfirmed comment we received on Facebook:
“I was there and the staff have told me that a 18-19 year old boy lit a fag and shoved it in the crisps section and it went up big time!”
“The place is full of smoke and nobody was hurt thankfully. There was about six fire engines there.”
Many people on Facebook have spoken of their shock at what has happened and their hopes that no one has been injured.
