DOMESTIC ABUSE | A man who assaulted his partner just weeks after being released from prison has been jailed again.

Anthony Marshall, 29, of Maescader in Pencader, was reported for assaulting his partner in the doorway of a shop on Saturday, April 29 – three weeks after he was released from prison for a previous attack on the same victim.

Out of fear of Marshall, the victim was hesitant to make a statement against him. However, recognising the risk he posed towards her, our officers began an evidence-led prosecution, which meant the incident could be investigated without the victim needing to be questioned or to attend court.

CCTV footage clearly showing the assault was obtained, along with disclosures made by the victim when she called 999 and while speaking to officers.

Clear documentation of the victim’s fear was presented to the CPS, highlighting her fear of Marshall, who was charged with assault by beating.

He appeared at Haverfordwest Magistrates Court on Wednesday, May 3 – just four days after the offence – where he was jailed for 12 weeks.
