Pembrokeshire County Council has provided a free pre-planning application service for many years which is well used.  Many Welsh Authorities already charge for this service.

New legislation from the Welsh Government means that from 16thMarch, the County Council must start charging for this service.  Users will be charged from £25 for householder enquiries up to a maximum of £1,000 for large scale and complex proposals.

Next Monday’s Cabinet meeting of the Council will be asked to ratify the new fees and for the service to be monitored for the next 12 months.

The Cabinet Member for Planning and Sustainability, Councillor Myles Pepper, added “The mandatory introduction of fees for pre-application planning advice is part of a raft of new changes to the planning system arising from the Planning Act (Wales) 2015.

“Improved timeliness and quality standards will underpin the new service when it is introduced later this month.”
