Scarlets head into the last block of the regular Guinness PRO12 season in third position in the league, behind Connacht and Leinster.
Three of Scarlets’ remaining five fixtures are Welsh derbies with the West Wales region taking on Ospreys, Cardiff Blues and Newport Gwent Dragons as well as Glasgow and Munster.
Speaking exclusively to the South Wales Evening Post Pivac said: “We are reasonably happy with our position in the league.
“You always look back at a certain block of the season and think maybe we left a couple of points out there, but with five games to go, if you would have given us this position at the start of the season I would have been pretty happy with that.
The squad returned to training on Monday after a week’s break to recover and re-energise after a physical block of games against Connacht, Edinburgh, Ulster and Benetton Treviso.
Pivac went on to say: “I think the break has come at a good time for us. We had a bit of illness in the camp, which can be put down to fatigue, a few injuries, so boys have gone away to refresh before coming back and preparing for the Ospreys.
“It is a massive game. The Ospreys are in a similar position to where we found ourselves last season, chasing that European spot.
“Knowing the Ospreys, they will back themselves to win their last five and you add players like Alun Wyn Jones, Dan Biggar and Rhys Webb into the mix with a lot of quality young players that they have, it is going to be a huge challenge for us.”
