Plaid Cymru Assembly Member Simon Thomas has secured a promise from the Welsh Government that resurfacing work on the A477 will be completed before Easter.

The Mid and West AM asked the Welsh Government about road works on the A477 to the east of the Kilgetty roundabout after receiving complaints from local residents.

Party of Wales AM Simon Thomas said: “The A477 had been reduced to one lane east of the Kilgetty roundabout for about three miles for well over a month before work started and local people were concerned. I’m pleased the Welsh Government has promised the work will be over by Easter. My team will be keeping a watching brief to make sure they keep their promises.

“Plaid Cymru does not want to see extra congestion and delays for residents. It is particularly important we see the work completed before the expected rush of tourists at the Easter holidays.

“I’ve been campaigning for a better economy locally by calling for a cut in business rates and a reduction in VAT for tourist traders.

“I also want to see Pembrokeshire Council giving more public contracts to Welsh firms and a dedicated town centre manager for Pembroke Dock and Pembroke. There needs to be a clear town centre regeneration strategy from Pembrokeshire County Council.”
